National Financial Ombud Scheme (NFO)

The NFO was formed in 2024 through the amalgamation of four legacy ombud schemes: the Credit Ombud (CO), Ombudsman for Banking Services (OBS), Ombudsman for Long-term Insurance (OLTI), and the Ombudsman for Short-term Insurance (OSTI). The NFO has four specialist divisions, which correspond to the jurisdiction of the relevant former ombud schemes:

BANKING DIVISION
Resolves individual complaints about banking services and products in an impartial, independent, confidential, and speedy manner.

CREDIT DIVISION
Resolves complaints from consumers and businesses that are negatively impacted by credit bureau information and disputes with a credit provider, debt counsellor or payment distribution agent.

LIFE INSURANCE DIVISION
Provides dispute resolution services relating to the administration of life insurance and other long-term insurance products, including mis-selling, beneficiary nomination, and claim rejections.

NON-LIFE INSURANCE DIVISION
Resolves disputes connected with short-term insurance policies, such as those for travel, businesses, homes and contents, and motor vehicles.
